Botanical paintings
I was inspired by the blossoms and trees in Amsterdam in the spring. The impressionists also influenced me to paint in a looser style and I used a rounder paletter knife for the paint application.

2010I used a red background to give this painting a more dramatic and bold feeling, contrasting the natural, earthy colours of the plants.
Blossoms 2
2010I was inspired by the incredible blossoms in the Spring in Amsterdam and also by the famous blossom paintings by Van Gogh. I used a new technique with this painting, and applied the paint thickly, using a round palette knife. I really enjoyed painting it!
