Art was my favorite school subject and I have been drawing and painting since I was able to hold a paintbrush. I attended the Art Foundation in Johannesburg, South Africa and also learnt a lot from my parents who both painted and sculpted. After leaving design school in Johannesburg, I produced mostly figurative fashion illustrations for fashion designers.  At this time was inspired by the work of Tony Viramonte and have always been inspired by Picasso.
I began to take my art seriously when I started to focus on the face as a theme. Besides painting, I was freelancing as a make-up artist and I found drawing facial proportions and features came naturally to me.
My travels allowed me to experience the art installations and incredible works of artists such as Jim Lambie, Beatriz Milhazes and Damien Hirst and I realised that "anything goes" in the art world and that one is only limited by one's own imagination. This inspired me to experiment with different mediums such as sequins, photography and glazes and to shift to abstract work.
At present, I am inspired to do figurative work again, in various mediums, but also to continue with my abstract work, as I enjoy this the most. I hope to have a balance in what I produce and begin to merge my styles.
Born in 1969, in South Africa - Cape Town being my hometown, I currently live in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
